Intro

918 Griffon Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron serves youth in Calgary through the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program. The squadron was created to provide a strong local home for cadets in northwest Calgary and has grown into an active unit focused on leadership, citizenship, aviation, teamwork, and service.

About the Cadet Program

The Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program is a national youth program delivered through a partnership between the Department of National Defence and the Air Cadet League of Canada. Cadets are supervised and instructed within a structured program, but they are not members of the Canadian Armed Forces and are never required to pursue military service afterward.

The purpose of the program is youth development. Cadets build leadership skills, fitness, citizenship, teamwork, aviation knowledge, and self-discipline in an environment that emphasizes growth, responsibility, and participation.

What Cadets Gain

By the time cadets age out of the program, many have gained experience that sets them apart from their peers. Cadets may learn how to lead a group, teach junior cadets, evaluate performance, organize activities, speak confidently in front of others, and manage time and responsibility. These are practical skills that serve them well in school, work, and community life.
